For German Shepherd dogs and other breeds and mixes alike, there are many organizations for dog sport and show. The following list are registries and organizations that are reputable. Please note that the AKC and UKC are the only reputable all-breed purebred dog registries in the United States.
American Kennel Club (AKC)
All-breed purebred registry, conformation, obedience, agility, rally-obedience, herding, tracking. Non-registered purebreds may obtain ILP and compete in all sports but conformation.
United Kennel Club (UKC)
All-breed purebred registry, conformation, obedience, agility, rally-obedience, dog sport, dock diving, terrier racing, weight pull. Non-registered purebreds may obtain LPR and compete in all events but conformation. Mixed breeds are eligible for LPR.
