Kenya and I bonded instantly and she has been my loyal companion since day one. In the home, Kenya is impeccably behaved, very mellow. In training and on the field, she is focused and precise. She works for the sake of working and loves to be with her handler. She is reserved with strangers and especially discerning of men, but very social among dogs. With people she knows and trusts she is as spunky as a puppy. Though she is pure German working lines and her father was a high-in-trial Schutzhund competitor, Kenya is a soft dog and prefers dog sports that present less conflict, such as rally, obedience, and aglity. She will work for food, praise, and simple motivational "games" with her people. She has always been attached to her one person and is totally reliable off lead, even in city traffic. She likes to show off in the ring and has never failed or NQed at anything she has tried. Her calm demeanor allowed her to easily pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen test, the West Michigan Therapy Dog pet assisted therapy training and evaluation, the Therapy Dogs International evaluation, and the American Temperament Test Society's temperament test. Her size and conformation make her the perfect agility dog. She is a smaller bitch, 21.5" and 55lbs. She has good hips (x-rayed by renowned veterinary radiologist Dr. "Mos" Mostosky); her movement is balanced, effortless, and efficient. Her conformation does not fit the "type" of either the AKC or SV ring trends, but she is a beautiful example of how the working German shepherd should look and move. She has two legs towards her UKC Grand Champion title, but is now spayed and retired from the show ring. At Pawsitive Canine Training, Kenya has completed Beginner Agility, Intermediate Agility, Advanced Agility (2x), Intermediate/AKC CGC, passed the CGC, Intro to Rally, Advanced Rally, APDT Rally, and Advanced Skills.

We adopted Coke (formerly Teddy) from Vicky's Pet Connection (an all-breed dog and cat rescue) in November 2007. Coke is our goofy lovebug. His name Coca-Cola suits him - he is dark, refreshing, "cool", and bubbley! He has no drive for work or formal training, he just wants to play or cuddle. Coke did however pass the AKC's Canine Good Citizen test twice, so we gave him a "special" name for his certificate - VPC's Coca-Cola (VPC stands for Vicky's Pet Connection). Coke has a solid, relaxed temperament with dogs and people and avoids conflict both in training and in his interactions with people and dogs. He loves children and is very outgoing towards all people. He would definitely NOT protect our home from intruders! With Coke around we are never lacking smiles and laughs. At Pawsitive Canine Training, Coke has completed Intermediate/AKC CGC, passed the CGC, and Beginner Agility.

Nikon, aka Noodle, is my big little sidekick. He is everything I asked for as far as temperament and conformation. He is smart, energetic, confident, loves to train and work, and succeeds at everything we try. He has a lot of energy and continusously challenges me to keep up with him, but this is exactly what I wanted! At one year old he passed his Canine Good Citizen test and herding instinct test, competed in his first national Sieger Show, earned over half his UKC points and wins, and was well into training for Schutzhund and dock diving. At 15 months he had 195 UKC points and placed SG2 (behind his half brother!) in the 12-18 month class at 13 months. Nikon is the total package; he is a pet as much as he is my performance dog. He sleeps on my couch, travels with me, visits my office, goes for long walks, and loves to play fetch. We intend to continue with conformation, Schutzhund, Rally obedience, and dock diving as well as training in agility, weight pull, lure coursing, and SDA obedience and protection in the near future. Nikon is also a very healthy dog and is very social and trustworthy with everyone he meets. He was heavily socialized as a puppy and got lots of exposure to children so he especially loves children. During his first UKC show at 3 months, another puppy was yawning and shaking but Nikon's tail never quit wagging and he made sure to give the judge a wet kiss before she checked his bite. Nikon lives to chase, bark, and tug. Despite his endless energy and drive, he has been a relatively "easy" puppy and is a wonderful housedog. His ball drive is impressive; he is easy to train and motivate. At Pawsitive Canine Training, Nikon has completed Puppy/AKC STAR, Intermediate/AKC CGC, passed the CGC, and two sessions of conformation training. Recently, Nikon earned his BH and first agility title before two years of age. Our upcoming goals include finishing the UKC Championship and trying the Schutzhund 1 in the spring.
